This group started its activity in 1356 as one of the four groups of "Lorestan Higher Education Center" affiliated to Jundishapur University of Ahvaz by accepting students in the field of chemistry at the undergraduate level. With the passage of time and the upgrading of Lorestan Higher Education Center to Lorestan University, there was a significant development in the quantity and quality of educational fields and the chemistry department was promoted to its special scientific position. This group accepted students for the first courses in 1386 by obtaining the master's degree in organic chemistry and master's degree in inorganic chemistry in 1374, and in the doctoral level by obtaining the master's degree in organic chemistry and analytical chemistry. .
Currently, this group has 19 full-time faculty members (9 professors, 4 associate professors, and 6 assistant professors), 2 bachelor's degrees (pure chemistry and applied chemistry), 5 master's degrees (organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, chemical physics and nanochemistry) and 4 doctorates in (organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry and physical chemistry). In the current situation, the chemistry department has the conditions to be promoted to the faculty, and the permission to start the chemistry faculty has also been approved.
